They’ve already proven it on Discovery that nothing happens. They put Buster inside with sensors and ****. The fuel wont ignite because first of all it’s diesel, which only ignites by compressing it to the self-ignition point, unlike gas which easily ignites with a spark.

The electricity will actually go from the hood down the sides of the car and through the tires, making the current go completely around the fuel tank, which is in the middle.
The fuel in the tank would not ignite without enough oxygen, so the current could go through the sealed container.

I think because the fuel was in a sealed container so the only part of the lighning that hit the fuel was the electrical current.
