It’s no different than a retractable hardtop you see in a BMW 3 series, as there’s no b-pillar to help with a rollover.
That said, the tech does seem like it’d be heavier than to just have a B-pillar, with the extra reinforcing required.

It is not practical to eliminate the B pillar. What about when accidents occur or a rollover. I could see future law suits for this company. Excellent design and idea though, truly.

how about BMW Z 1 they had a serial productuction car like this in the 80`s but it was unreasonable to build for a cheap price so they stopped the production of the car do to not enough sales volume. the expense definatly outweights the benefit of those kind of doors.
